3 Ways to Express Yourself in Your Home

When you first walked into the home of your best friend  or sibling , have you ever said to them, “This house is so you”. If so, that’s probably because they have successfully styled their home with a clear understanding of their personal preference, likes and dislikes.  Having an understanding of these things can help you as well. Here are three ways you can express yourself throughout your home:

Define your personal style.

We all naturally gravitate to a particular style whether we realize it or not. Your personal style can be classified as modern, vintage, bohemian, etc.. Let’s say you are a person who have a vintage style, that means you have an appreciation for antiques and the history behind an item. Take a trip to your attic or your local vintage shop to  see what type of antiques you can find to decorate your room.

Encourage your hobbies.

Everyone needs a space where their imagination can run wild. Think about placing items in your room that will inspire you to do what you love. For instance, if you’re a writer, create a section in your room that encourages you to write. Placing a chair in the corner with your writing materials close by will foster a productive writing environment.

Reveal your best memories.

With the increase use of social media, it is no secret many of us have our  best memories captured in a single photo (or several). Transfer photos from your digital world into your real world. Having a photo blown up and placed anywhere in your home, can make all the difference. Imagine coming home and the first thing to welcome you is a picture that brings out your inner happiness. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Let them share who you are.

Although, we’ve only list 3 ways to express yourself in your home there are many ways to accomplish this. But if all else fails, just copy your best friend or sibling😉. Seriously, self expression is also all about trying new things and getting out of your comfort zone. That’s how you start to gain a clear understanding of your personal preferences and style. Happy expressing!
